Whom; Teru Mikami + Light Yagami
Rating; PG-15 maybe?
When; A month and a half or so after Mikami became a werewolf, in the early early morning
AUverse; Vampires
Summary; Mikami is rapidly going insane, and a charming young man steps in to help.

The moon had set at last, and Mikami had finally gone through the pain involved in transforming back into his human self. Now he was lying in some filthy alley somewhere, completely devoid of clothing, all of his muscles aching, and his entire body covered in dirt and something red that looked disturbingly like drying blood. It was not a good way to start a morning, but it was one that he had been forced to try to get accustomed to.

His senses were still in overdrive, his mind racing with the aftereffects of the night. It would be like this for at least a day, which meant he'd have to stay away from people. While he was like this - nearly feral, with everything looking either like food or a threat - he couldn't trust himself around others. Alone, he could keep himself mostly calm and contained, he had discovered. Alone he could recover, try to calm down, and generally allow himself to relax at least a little until the next too-bright moon rose.

The issue now was, then, how to get home. This was the most difficult part, unfortunately, given his lack of clothing. He'd have to be incredibly careful to avoid detection - which was the one benefit of his heightened senses and incredible panic reflexes. And, if the worst happened, he could probably fight.

He started to push himself weakly into a stand, fighting the urge to lie back down and just wait for someone to find him and put the rabid dog out of its misery. He still had to struggle, with the hopes that someday he'd find a way to return to his old life of fighting injustice.

((This is a Light-tag))
Rose pink skies and mandarin tinted clouds replaced the curtain of diamonds and midnight as the last vestiges of the moon disappeared. Dawn was here. A figure in a business suit stepped out from the backdoor that lead into the alleyway. He looked like a respectable young businessman who had just finished entertaining his client. Nothing untowardly special unless you looked closer. He moved with fluidly, with inhuman grace that betrayed his mask of normalcy.

Yagami Light took a sniff of the dark alley and wrinkled his nose in distaste as the smell of sex and refuse and… a faint coppery tang of blood assaulted him. Blood.

Before he knew it, he found himself walking, trailing, tracking the scent. He paused in his steps as a male came into sight. Victim of a robbery? If so, there is no reason to get himself involved. The hassle of having to give a testimony far outweighed this person's life. But there was something a little… off about the man.

Curiousity, more than kindness made him close the last few steps. He admired the other's form. He was nicely muscled, but what really caught his eyes were the feral glint and the hint of barely suppressed rage. A were.
luxtalionis on December 5th, 2007 08:46 am (UTC)
Someone was walking up behind Teru. His sensitive ears swiveled slightly towards the noise of footsteps, and his entire body tensed with fear. He had been seen, and now there were only two choices: he could run, or he could fight. Most of his mind seemed to be screaming for a fight.

Some small, rational part of his mind told him that there were other options, that he could talk to the man behind him, explain what was going on, and maybe even get help. But the adrenaline and the rush of rage that had not left him from last night told him that fighting was the only option.

And there was some other reason to fight, too, one that Mikami could not place in his mind immediately. The man smelled... wrong. Almost too clean. Dry. Dead. He was something that should be fought.

Slowly he turned to face the other, growling slightly in warning, ready to pounce as soon as the stranger advanced.
empty_dialogue: Light; Murderoticaempty_dialogue on December 5th, 2007 11:06 am (UTC)
At the growl, the male stopped in his tracks and offered the other a smile, showing the other his upturned palm to show that he meant the other no harm. A cornered animal was unpredictable and Light did not doubt that the other would attack him even at the slightest provocation.

It did not help matters that it was a full moon. There was something about the cycle of the moon that affected the behaviour of weres, werewolves in particular. Even the most placid of them turned bloodthirsty then, their instincts taking over their senses.

Time to play the good Samaritan.

“Are you alright?”

He took a step forward and extended a hand to the other.
luxtalionis on December 5th, 2007 11:16 am (UTC)
Mikami wanted to tell the other man to flee. He wanted to ask the other man for help. He wanted to be able to say something rather than giving into instinct, but his mind just wouldn't function to that degree. Everything was running on instinct now, and all his instincts told him that it was time to fight this strange wrong-smelling man.

And so with a snarl, he lunged partially forwards and bit into the man's hand. His teeth weren't dagger-sharp like they were under the moonlight, but the vestiges of the transformation remained, and his teeth sank in easily. The flesh was slightly too cool to be natural, and -

The blood ran into his mouth, and everything in him that was human and some in him that was wolf wanted to instantly release the hand to spit it out. It didn't taste right. There was something dark and sinister to it, a note that he could not identify and that he felt, somehow, that he did not want to. The darkness carried with it power, but not power Mikami wanted.

But he was here to fight, and so he kept his teeth firmly locked onto the hand.
empty_dialogue: Light; Murderoticaempty_dialogue on December 5th, 2007 12:17 pm (UTC)
He did not even flinch as the other’s teeth sank into his hand, his gaze remaining steady. It was as if Light was witnessing it from a third person’s point of view. So long as it is not fatal, he was willing to overlook it. It was instinct that made him bite and not his intention.

He watched as his blood dripped, dissipating the moment it touched the grimy ground. For someone who was encountering a werewolf who was obvious not in control of their mental faculties, he was calm, maybe even a little bored.

From past experience, Light knew that the werewolf would only react badly if he felt any emotions, especially fear and anger. “Does this satisfy you?”
luxtalionis on December 5th, 2007 12:21 pm (UTC)
The thing wasn't responding the way it was supposed to. Mikami had bitten deeply into its hand, and yet it wasn't crying out in pain. In fact, the voice sounded more bored than anything else. Something was wrong here, in a way that he did not understand, and it seemed to cut down on his impulse to fight - it was impossible to fight something you didn't understand.

He released his grip on the hand and stared up at the man. His instincts had now changed to mostly focus on running, but he found that they were somewhat easier to resist. Curiosity was at least somewhat overriding fear for the moment, and he wanted to take advantage of that semi-humanity.

"What are you?" he demanded in a somewhat hoarse voice.
empty_dialogue: Light; Kitty smirkempty_dialogue on December 5th, 2007 12:49 pm (UTC)
Light pulled back his hand slowly and let it drop to his side. He felt the skin around wound tightening, a sign that he was healing as flesh knitted together. It was slower than what he was accustomed to, but then again, it was the bite of a werewolf. It usually took a little longer to mend.

“We have been given many names, but I think ‘vampire’ would be the most common and easiest to understand.” He would not even have bothered explaining if the other was not a werewolf. After all, telling another person you were a vampire would only get you a strange look and ticket to an asylum. No, humans were ignorant, they preferred to remain ignorant, choosing to ignore the truth in front of them and choosing to dispel their fear as myths.

His smile was gentle, even as he reached out with the same wounded hand and smoothened the werewolf’s hair. “I could not help but notice that you needed some help.” Though Light has already arrived at the conclusion, he asked anyway. “Is the one who made you around?”
luxtalionis on December 5th, 2007 05:53 pm (UTC)
Vampire. Mikami's nerves tensed again at the word, and the fleeing instinct nearly dominated his mind again. He had wondered before if there were any others like him, anything else in the night, but vampires... His instincts told him somehow that vampires were wrong, even more so than werewolves like himself.

It took all his effort to stay sitting where he was. He managed, though, desperate to maybe get some sort of clues on how to turn back from the man. If anyone would know, surely a vampire would.

The one who made him... Mikami tried for the thousandth time to try to recall something about who or what had bitten him. All that he could remember of that night was fangs and blood and horrible, screaming pain. "I don't know," he replied honestly.
Yagami Light: i know what you are thinking~luxetlet on December 6th, 2007 04:39 am (UTC)
His words only confirmed Light’s conjecture. It was even rarer for werewolves to leave behind someone that they have changed to stumble and struggle around on their own. After all, like wolves, they usually preferred to stay and run as a pack. Or… was this man a survivor of an attack? Highly likely. Weres do not usually stay so close to the city, preferring wide areas and spaces where they might run free and where no humans can intrude into their territory.

From his obvious distress, Light knew that the other was not likely to have any control of his other form. He leaned down, whispering into the werewolf’s ears, “I could teach you how to control, to suppress your instincts until you can more or less so function in society again.”

He straightened himself and looked down and the other, his smile turning into grin. “… but of course, there would be a price.”

After all, nothing was free in this world. Everything had a price.
luxtalionis on December 6th, 2007 05:08 am (UTC)
Mikami's eyes widened at the other's words. He was being offered control, freedom from the instincts that dominated his mind and made life all but impossible. He would be able to live his own life, rather than living the half-life that he seemed to be entrapped him.

But the fear was still there, and the other was still a vampire. Maybe Mikami's instincts had the right idea. He shouldn't simply trust this man so easily. There was a chance that he just wanted to make things worse for him.

"What's the price?" he asked, tone wary and with a barely contained note of danger to it.
Yagami Lightluxetlet on December 6th, 2007 05:21 pm (UTC)
One would say that Light made that decision on pure whimsy, but he was a deliberate man. Everything he did and every step he took was analyzed, planned. A werewolf was known for their strength and their regenerative abilities as well as their mental resistance towards outside influences. Even a vampire would not take a werewolf lightly. Taking their inherent nature to be loyal into account, the other would make for an excellent bodyguard

“Nothing too difficult, I will even pay you for it.” He paused for a moment, a if thinking it over before continuing. “I am in need of a bodyguard, and you happen to fit the position perfectly.”

“But do feel free to decline.”
luxtalionis on December 6th, 2007 05:33 pm (UTC)
Bodyguard. It was not a career that Mikami would choose on his own - especially not when the one he would be guarding was a vampire. He preferred work that involved justice, rather than just mindless guarding of someone he barely knew. People he barely knew tended to be more unjust than not.

But the simple fact of the matter was that Mikami needed some form of job. He was running out of money for food rapidly, and what's more, the man was offering him more than a job - he was offering Mikami a way to gain control. That was something he deeply needed.

And so, doing his best to ignore the instincts telling him to run, he nodded. "Alright."
Yagami Light: i know what you are thinking~luxetlet on December 6th, 2007 05:56 pm (UTC)
The smile was dark and sinister. Light already knew the answer before the other even spoke it out loud. After all, what other option does he have? He could not function normally amongst other humans as long as he could not control himself. He knew that it was only a matter of time before the other turned completely feral.

“Excellent! I will give you more details when we have you tidied up.” The vampire saw the doubt in the other. The werewolf’s body language was rather easy to pick up on. Light had no trouble reading and deciphering it.

But he did not do anything about it. The sun was rising and he was way past his bedtime. They did not have much time before the day started. Light took out a slim cellphone and spoke to someone on the other side softly. Before long, a dark limousine stopped in front of the two men. The vampire turned to the werewolf and gave a more pleasant, reassuring smile. “Shall we? The sun is already up and I rather not stay out longer than I have to.”
luxtalionis on December 6th, 2007 06:10 pm (UTC)
Mikami stood slowly, wincing as his muscles protested the change in posture. He had more questions to ask - how a vampire could be out in the day, what his job entailed, what the vampire's name was - but most of his concentration was focused on keeping himself from fleeing. As soon as he made it to the limo, it'd be alright. He wouldn't be able to flee from a moving car.

He half-staggered towards the limousine, any grace he might have had lost due to his internal conflict.
Yagami Light: forbidden fruitluxetlet on December 6th, 2007 06:49 pm (UTC)
If the driver found this scenario weird, he did not show it, even as he held open the door for the two men. After all, his employer was known to be a rather… eccentric man.

Light allowed werewolf to slide into the car before he did. In contrast to the werewolf, every moment was effortlessly graceful. He knew he has a blanket somewhere in the limousine, but he decided he much rather have the other bare. Light was a person who appreciated aesthetics, and the other’s form was… pleasing to the eye, though he was covered with grime and dirt.

“Do feel free to ask me any question you may wish to ask. I am certain you have quite a few in mind.”
luxtalionis on December 6th, 2007 07:00 pm (UTC)
If Mikami had hated how grimy he felt before, now it was just short of unbearable. In contrast with the elegant limousine and the handsome man next to him, he felt pathetic. He knew he was getting the seat under him filthy as well, and it was a painful realization.

The other was asking him if he had questions, and now that he was in the car, he could relax very slightly. He no longer had to put all his concentration into keeping himself from running, because he was safely buckled into the car.

"What is your name?" he asked.
Yagami Light: i know what you are thinking~luxetlet on December 7th, 2007 02:38 am (UTC)
Tense. The other was still tense, uncomfortable.

Just the way Light wanted it. His hand was still throbbing a little from the bit earlier though the blood has stopped flowing and the flesh has knitted, the only sign of him being wounded being the slightly pink healed skin. That too, would be gone in another few minutes, with not even a scar to show that he was once hurt.

“Yagami Light.” The vampire doubted that the other would take long to connect it to his company. He knew he looked a little young to be carrying the title of President, which was why he never made it a habit to attend press conferences, interviews, and the like. It was pure foolishness, especially when there are hunters around. “But when we are alone, you may call me Kira.”

He tilted his head aside, watching, observing his latest acquisition as he weaved plans. The company would probably survive without him for the next one or two weeks. “What about you? What is your name? Your occupation?”
luxtalionis on December 7th, 2007 02:49 am (UTC)
Yagami Light. President of Mirai Corporation, one of the largest companies in Japan. They were rare, not because of their great wealth or their corporate shrewdness, but because they were so scrupulous. They had never had any scandal that reached even the tabloids, and they gave generously to charity funds and public projects. It was more than a little surprising that the president was, apparently, a vampire.

But he recovered from his shock fairly quickly to respond to the questions asked. "Mikami Teru. I am - I was - a prosecutor. I had to quit my job..." He reached up to touch one of his wolflike years. "It was just too difficult to hide what was going on."
Yagami Light: sinfully desirableluxetlet on December 7th, 2007 06:06 am (UTC)
Not to mention that his instincts would have been too overwhelming. Emotions, especially rage was hard to keep in control of.

A prosecutor, hm? This was better than he has expected. He would have to ask his secretary to look up on his files as well as the cases the other had handled in order to gauge his abilities. The occupation that he used to hold already told Light that the other would have the ability to reason out situations calmly and that he would have keen observational abilities.

“A pleasure to meet you, Mikami-san. If you are able to fully control your… instincts, I do not see any reasons why you could not return to your previous job. For now, you would start as my bodyguard, but as you prove your worth, I will entrust you with something more suitable.”
luxtalionis on December 7th, 2007 06:23 am (UTC)
So Mikami wouldn't be stuck in an irritating job forever. That was a good thing to hear. And working for the Mirai Corporation as a lawyer wasn't necessarily a bad thing - if the company was really as pure as it seemed, he wouldn't have to compromise his integrity in favor of work.

But there was still some doubt, intermingled with his instinctual wariness and fear of this man. "If I might ask, why did you pick me up?" It was a good question. He knew all too well that he didn't look like the sort of person that others pay attention to, and there was the fact that he had actively bitten the other man.
Yagami Light: i know what you are thinking~luxetlet on December 7th, 2007 08:32 am (UTC)
The smile turned slightly sharper as Light replied the other. “It would be a pity to allow someone to lose their entire future just because of one small technicality, would it not?”

Excusing himself from their topic for a moment, he took out his cellphone once more and gave a few instructions to the other side to prepare for their arrival before snapping it shut once again. “You are wondering what I have in mind for you? After all, I am merely a stranger who just happened to walk by and stumble upon you.”

He leaned back against the seat as the driver pulled into the driveway. The mansion was sprawling. Light has never been one to deny himself of anything and he liked his privacy from prying eyes. “I did inform you earlier than I am in need of a bodyguard. I am quite sure you know how much stronger you are compared to before you became a werewolf…” he trailed off, allowing the other to arrive to his own conclusion. He could already hear the next question. What would a vampire do with a bodyguard if he was strong enough to protect himself? “Anyway, I am certain you would be more suspicious if I offered you aid without wanting anything in return.”
luxtalionis on December 7th, 2007 08:41 am (UTC)
The answer wasn't quite enough - he had bitten into Yagami's hand without the man showing the slightest sign of pain, which made Mikami wonder why he could possibly need protection - but it was enough. He didn't fully understand the world of vampires and werewolves yet anyways. Maybe there was something he could do to defend the vampire.

He glanced out the window at the mansion, remaining silent as he stared at it. It was a very nice building, which only made sense, given the wealth that Yagami was reported to hold. He felt even more out of place in his still-pathetic state.

For the moment, he was silent.
Yagami Light: i know what you are thinking~luxetlet on December 7th, 2007 09:50 am (UTC)
As soon as the car pulled into the porch a male stepped up to the car to open the door for the two. He was carrying a large blanket, which he handed to Light. As with the chauffeur, if he found the situation strange, he did not comment on it.

Light draped the cloth around Mikami’s shoulders and allowed him to adjust it on his own. He stepped out and used his hand to cover his eyes. The sun was up.

Without a glance behind, the vampire made his way into the sanctuary of his home. He knew the other would follow behind. “I have had the servants prepare a bath and clothes for you to change into. I will have someone measure you and purchase whatever that is needed.”
luxtalionis on December 7th, 2007 09:55 am (UTC)
Mikami carefully wrapped himself in the blanket, grateful for the amount of decency it offered him. He still felt out of place, but at least he was no longer naked around strangers. Once he was certain that the blanket was covering everything, he carefully stepped out of the car.

The bath and clothes both sounded wonderful, but the fact that he was going to have new clothes bought for him brought some worries. "Ah... there are still clothes and personal belongings at my apartment. I don't really need any new clothes..."
Yagami Lightluxetlet on December 7th, 2007 06:32 pm (UTC)
This tag is full of suck D:
His pace only slowed when he walked through the doors. The interior was done in the style of olden European mansions – grand, stately and stuffy. Light preferred a modern style, like that of his condominium in uptown Tokyo. Steel and glass, sleek lines and soft curves of the furnishings. Minimalist. The complete opposite of the mansion which he stepped into. But, then again, the mansion was often used to host dinner parties and gatherings and he has an appearance to keep up.

He turned back slightly at Mikami’s words. “When you have cleaned up, I shall arrange for the servants to help you pack your personal belongings.” He looked up and down at the other appraisingly. “Perhaps, but I think you will probably need more clothing in time to come. And you can never have one too many tailored suits.” If the other could not control his transformation, he probably would.

Light personally lead Mikami towards his room. “I will wait here while you bathe.” He said, perching on the edge of the bed. He could just as easily asked a maid to wait on the other, but the vampire would rather not risk having his maid mauled. A werewolf’s temper is mercurial and often unpredictable.
luxtalionis on December 8th, 2007 01:20 am (UTC)
No it's not D:
Mikami studied the mansion carefully as they walked through it. It was a bit over-crowded for his taste, and he imagined that it had to be difficult to clean. He disliked obvious displays of wealth like this, but he wasn't prepared to say that to his host, especially given the nature of their new relationship.

He nodded at the statement about clothing. He had ruined a few suits during his transformations - shredding them to get out of the cloth. While he had gotten better at making sure he was already nude when he transformed, he wasn't always successful.

Slowly he headed into the bathroom, removing the blanket and folding it neatly before climbing into the tub. The feeling of water on his skin was an incredible relief, although the water started to get murky fairly quickly. He picked up a washcloth and began to scrub furiously.
Yagami Lightluxetlet on December 8th, 2007 07:03 am (UTC)
The other took quite awhile in the bathroom, but then again any people who spent the night prowling the alleys would. And being a werewolf, his sense of smell should be much, much more sensitive, even more so than a vampire’s.
luxtalionis on December 8th, 2007 08:26 am (UTC)
Finally, after a long bath and a brief shower, Mikami felt that he was adequately clean. His skin was slightly raw from scrubbing too heavily, but that had sometimes happened even before Mikami became a werewolf, and given the level of filth that had been on him, he felt it was an appropriate response.

Once he was done, he stepped out of the shower and carefully toweled himself off before wrapping the towel around him. Although the other had already seen him nude, it wasn't a trend he wanted to continue. He made certain that the towel was firmly wrapped around him, then stepped back out into the main bedroom, looking much calmer than he had when he had entered.
Yagami Light: sinfully desirableluxetlet on December 8th, 2007 10:12 am (UTC)
The vampire was slightly disappointed when the other came out fresh from bathing with a towel around his waist, but not too much. It was only a matter of time. The very first time since Light set his eyes on the other, he has already decided that Mikami would belong to him. He satisfied himself by admiring the way the other moved, the way his muscles rippled and the way the droplets of water dripped from the ends of his hair down to his chest.

The spots and lines of red on his skin did not escape him, but it was nothing too unusual seeing that the other did lie in the alleyway. “I doubt you could fit into any of my shirts and pants. I hope you do not mind wearing these for the moment.”
luxtalionis on December 8th, 2007 10:18 am (UTC)
Mikami studied the outfit on the bed. It looked like exercise clothing - loose sweatpants and a baggy shirt. Not the style of clothing he favored, but it was far better than nothing, and he was grateful right now just to see any sort of clothing.

He headed over to the bed to pick up the outfit slowly. "Thank you." He turned to look at Light, tilting his head slightly. "Ah... might I ask you to leave the room while I get changed?"
Yagami Light: i know what you are thinking~luxetlet on December 8th, 2007 10:39 am (UTC)
For someone who looked like regularly worked out in a gym, he was unexpectedly… body conscious. Light kept that bit of information in his mind, giving the other a smile. “Of course. I should have excused myself in the first place.”

Gracefully pushing himself of the bed, the vampire made his way past the other, brushing against him lightly as he did. “I will have the servants prepare breakfast in the meantime.”

He closed the door gently behind him. His smile turned dark as he made his way down the hallway. Before long, the other will be his, heart, mind, body and soul.
